Here at Stocks Hall Burscough Home, our lovely ladies and gents have been using their creative skills, painting and decorating pebbles to send to destinations all around the world.
Pebble painting, or “rocking”, is a craze that seems to have begun in the US, now is a thriving international community of amateur artists decorating rocks before hiding them in public places.
Leanne, Activities Staff at the Home says “Our Residents have really enjoyed this little project – we have been asking friends or staff who go out for the day or on holiday to leave them at their destination and take a photograph of where it is left. The idea is to decorate rocks and pebbles and hide them in various locations to brighten someone’s day when they find them.
“What started as something for young children has quickly spread to families young and old, and it has been a wonderful way for us to get creative in the Home and to create some new activities to enjoy on our regular outings.”
For the next few months we are going to see how far we can get them….so far our ‘bespoke Burscough pebbles’ have reached Spain, Italy and Cumbria!”
