The ladies and gentlemen living at Stocks Hall, Skelmersdale Home, celebrated together to mark Victory in Europe (VE) Day recently.
Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, was the public holiday celebrated on 8th May 1945. It marked the formal acceptance by the Allies of World War II with Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender of its armed forces. Thus, VE day marks the end of World War II in Europe.
Setting the scene for the day, the Skelmersdale Home was decorated with Union Jacks and special VE bunting to create a visual, memorable environment of this celebratory occasion. There were also options of party hats for ladies and gentlemen to wear, if they so wished.
A VE celebratory lunch with a party atmosphere was then enjoyed together.
Tracie, Activities Staff says “We never miss an opportunity to have a party at Stocks Hall Homes and celebrate key events, especially those which hold such poignant memories – it is a landmark day in British History.”
The event concluded with an old-fashioned sing-along of some wartime favourites. Everyone had a wonderful time and reflected on the importance of their special VE day memories.
