Toasting the Grand National!

Ladies and Gentleman living at Stocks Hall Andrew Smith House recently enjoyed placing bets and toasting the Grand National Horse Racing Event held at Aintree Racecourse.

The Grand National Horse Race is an Annual event, a handicapped steeplechase race, ran over a course of 4 miles, 30 jumps and two laps.

Prominent in British Culture, its no surprise that the ladies and gentlemen at the Home wanted to get involved in this day’s celebrations.

With bets placed and drinks poured everyone sat in anticipation of the starters gun – “……….and they’re off!” Cheering and encouraging individual horses on to the finish line, made for a very excited and noisy lounge on this occasion.

The 10-1 one of the popular favourites, Tiger Roll, ridden by Davy Russell, was hard on the heels of the 25-1 Pleasant Company for some of the race. However later on, Tiger Roll surged his way past the horse and managed to secure a safe winning position.

Unfortunately nobody backed the winners at Stocks Hall Andrew Smith House, despite this disappointment though, the afternoon was a great success and still very enjoyable.

Captured here and enjoying the day are Doreen living at the Home, with daughter Michelle, and Norman also living at Andrew Smith House toasting the event.
