Residential /Nursing Home Sheltered Accommodation Winner 2017
Stocks Hall Living Mawdesley Home were awarded the prestigious title of Winner, in The Lancashire 2017 Best Kept Village Competition.
Lancashire’s Best Kept Village Competition started in 1958 and was set up by the Community Council of Lancashire whose members were of the opinion that such a competition would promote a better environment for everyone throughout Lancashire.
The intention of the competition is to encourage community effort and involvement in keeping Lancashire Villages and their facilities tidy and well maintained.
In early years only a handful of villages entered the competition, today entries have increased to approximately 100.
Two teams of preliminary judges visit each village, with the villages with the highest marks in each category receiving a further visit from committee members.
The two villages in each of the 18 categories with the highest marks, then go forward to final judging.
Some factors the judges take into consideration are, well cared for properties including grounds, hedges, walls, garages, car parks, cleanliness, well maintained open spaces etc.,
Sue Lace, Director of Stocks Hall Nursing & Care Group says “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to receive such an award.
