Stocks Hal Nursing & Care Group have recently embraced and completed ‘Older & Out’ LGBT Awareness Training.
The training, provided by Age Concern Central Lancashire, seeks to increase awareness and give greater understanding of (especially older) lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Age UK say “There’s a real diversity of people within the LGBT community, and this of course includes older people, we think this is something to be celebrated.”
Staff feedback on the training was very positive; saying said it certainly helped them to better understand older LGBT people more fully and will help them to apply what they have learnt on the course, to their caring roles.
Mel Howard, Quality Assurance Manager at The Stocks Hall Nursing & Care Group (in the centre of the above picture, accompanied by other members of staff in attendance) said “we are delighted to support LGBT ‘Older & Out’ training, which was very helpful and informative. Plans are already underway in appointing Stocks Hall as LGBT Ambassadors to Champion this important aspect, and increase vital awareness across the Group. More Central Lancashire LGBT training sessions have also been booked.”
