Sheila and Enid, living at Stocks Hall, Andrew Smith House, Nelson, recently enjoyed a visit to HAPPA – Horse & Pony Protection Association at Shores Hey Farm, Burnley, to spend the day with the rescue horses and ponies living on the Farm.
Wrapped up cosy and warm, the two ladies, accompanied by Activities Staff from the Home, enjoyed the idyllic, rural Lancashire country setting.
As they leisurely made their way around the stables, the group met all types of beautiful horses and ponies -some of which had been former Police and Race Horses.
Exploring the indoor and outdoor stable blocks, the group took time to visit each individual stable. They learnt details and background history of the animals they visited, then the group took time to share love and affection to the horses living there.
Activities Staff, Kirstie says “The horses are very friendly and are looked after well. You can stroke almost every horse including the foals in the field. We had a wonderful, relaxing day out and Sheila and Enid really enjoyed spending the day here.”
