Nelson Home Visits Southport Flower Show

A group of ladies from Stocks Hall Andrew Smith House recently visited the ever popular Southport Flower Show.

With a glorious day of sunshine ahead, hats and sun cream were a must! Garden enthusiasts Enid, Beatrice and Lorraine were accompanied by Kirstie Farrer and Julie Williams, Activities Staff from the Home and Mandy Isherwood, Driver of the Minibus.  Also volunteering their time to help the group were Vickie James, Head Chef, her daughter Nina, and Terry Lloyd, Domestic at the Home.

Southport Flower Show is the UK’s largest independent flower show, which attracts more than 50,000 visitors to the seaside town, with TV legends John Craven and Charlie Dimmock opening the show.

The group spent the whole day taking in the breathtaking displays and beautifully landscaped gardens, which were full of colour and bloom. Stopping off for a picnic lunch, the group took a well earned rest and enjoyed sandwiches and refreshments whilst chatting about all they had seen.

Kirstie Farrer, Activities Staff says “It was a wonderful experience that the whole group thoroughly enjoyed. There was plenty to see and do there, with a spectacular array of show gardens, birds of prey and stunning exhibits too – we can’t wait to return next year.”
