Recently Stocks Hall Home, Andrew Smith House, took advantage of a rare fine day.
Donning hats, scarves and gloves, the ladies and gents of Towneley suite set of to the seaside town of Blackpool. Enjoying a lovely sea side fish and chip lunch and a breezy walk along the promenade the group then made their way onto one of Blackpool’s piers.
On the walk the group encountered Blackpool’s Sculptures, part of “The Great Promenade Show”. One curiously strange construction, known as The High Tide Organ, is an instrument played at high tide through 8 pipes that are attached to the sea wall. Unfortunately at the time of visiting the High Tide Organ, the tide was too far out to be able to listen to the sound it makes.
Kirstie Farrer, Activities Staff, said “It was a lovely, if not breezy day but everyone enjoyed themselves nevertheless. Just what the doctor ordered to blow away the Winter cobwebs.”
