Ann’s Story

Celebrations were underway as Ann’s special story unfolds……

Ann O’Brien (pictured above in the centre of the group), first came to Stocks Hall Andrew Smith House at the end of June 2017. She had not been feeling well for some time and had needed a tracheostomy fitted. At this point Ann was feeling hopeless. With help from Stocks Hall teams, Ann was made to feel at home and began to feel much better than she was.

Ann then went into hospital to have her tracheostomy tube removed and reversed, this proved to be a very positive experience for her. She returned to Stocks Hall Home, being able to speak much clearer than before and was very pleased with the results.

Ann later confided in staff ‘that she thought she would never leave Stocks Hall Nursing Home and didn’t ever feel she was going to get her healthy life back again.’

This was proved wrong, and Stocks Hall are so pleased to share Ann did. She has now gone into her own flat, next to her friends. All are delighted for her.

So with this in mind, and to put our thoughts into action, Julie Activities person says “We helped Ann to celebrate, and to encourage all, that when people come into Nursing Homes they don’t always stay there until the end of their life. Some leave and go on to enjoy Independent, healthy living again.”

Jayms Bell Manager of the Home says “Ann will be greatly missed, and we wish her the most amazing future in her new home.”
