Andrew Smith House nominated for CCG Excellence Award

It was great news when Jayms Bell, Manager of Andrew Smith House,  found out that Stocks Hall, Nelson Home had been nominated by the East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group for an NHS Excellence Award. Nominated by the Regulated Care Sector Programme Manager the Home now await to see if they have ben shortlisted and will be sucessful for such an award.

In the nomination it was quoted “Credit should be given in recognition of the wonderful work which Andrew Smith House is doing to continually drive up standards and provide Excellent Quality Person Centred Care.   It is a Nursing Home which prides itself in delivering High Quality Care for all residents, and recognises the importance of valuing staff and their contribution to delivering Excellent Care.”

The nomination goes on to talk about the excellent Management Team, excellent use of Telemedicine, and how Stocks Hall Andrew Smith House welcomes opportunities to expand Clinical placements for pre registration Student Nurses.

It acknowledges their invovement in the Mentorship Educational Programme, and the Homes support towards the CCG Community/Care Home interface pilot.  This pilot is geared to greater understanding as to how Nursing Care can be better organised for people living at the Home to improve continuity of Care, strengthen professional relationships, improve clinical knowledge and peer support.

The nomination also recognises Andrew Smith House achievement on being offered a place on the Trainee Nursing Associate Programme which commenced in June 2018.  The Stocks Hall, Nelson Home was one of the only 6 Care Homes to be offered places in Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Andrew Smith House is deemed in the nomination ‘to exceed expectation by being forward thinking and being continaullly active in looking for opportunities, to develop staff, in order to deliver better, Improved Quality Patient Care.’

The nomination concluded  “Andrew Smith House are always willing to embrace new ways of working and support developments which will improve  Quality Of Care and build confidence in the Regulated Care Sector.”

Manager,  Jayms says  “This is such an honour for everyone who lives and works here. To read what has been written about Stocks Hall, Andrew Smith House in itself is a great achiement and recognises the fantastic work that we all here, whether we go on to be shortlisted and win an award or not. It is most important to always keep including Excellent Clinical Practices as part of our every day routines.”
